Mirror, mirror...

The builders are putting the finishing touches to our new gallery and we're all set to show it off with the inaugural exhibition, Head to Toe - a showcase of contemporary millinery and shoe design. The sparkly new space is all mine from next week to start installing the show and I can't wait! 

Now you can't have hats and shoes without mirrors to admire them in... A big thank you to Haidee Drew who will help me hang a wall of 50 of her amazing mirrors. Like this (but lots more!) -

Feeling inspired by Head to Toe... Why not Craft it Yourself?

To celebrate our upcoming exhibition, Head to Toe - a showcase of contemporary millinery and shoe design, we have lined up special CIY: Craft it Yourself workshops in hat making and shoe decoration.

Pimp your pumps or fashion a fascinator at our fun evenings of making, under the expert guidance of Head to Toe exhibitors, shoe designer Hetty Rose and milliner Katherine Elizabeth. Head to Toe (18-28 Feb 2013)

Supporting UK craft and design from our Clerkenwell base for over 30 years, Craft Central celebrates the launch of our new galleries this February. Our interesting Victorian buildings have long housed studios, exhibition spaces and business advice for designer makers, but 2013 sees an exciting expansion of our gallery facilities in St John’s Square, enabling us to grow our programme of public exhibitions and events.

The inaugural exhibition is set to show off our brand new galleries to great effect! Coinciding with London Fashion Week, Head to Toe will showcase the best in contemporary millinery and shoe design.

Head to Toe will explore the craft process and skill behind the drama, impact and, often, fun of hats and shoes. With covetable work from an exciting and diverse group of 20 designers, you will find astounding sculptural forms and innovative use of materials from big names in the worlds of millinery and shoe design. Milliners include Stephen Jones, Noel Stewart, House of Flora and Emma Yeo and we present shoes from Marloes ten Bhömer, Hetty Rose and London College of Fashion Cordwainers... to name but a few!

Head to Toe will showcase hats by: Atelier Millinery, Bailey Tomlin, Dinu Bodiciu, Emma Yeo, House of Flora, Katherine Elizabeth, Lisa Critcher, Martina Bohn, Noel Stewart, Rachel Black, Raina Lehmann and Stephen Jones. And shoes by: Anthropoid Clothing, Caroline Groves, Hetty Rose, London College of Fashion Cordwainers, Marloes ten Bhömer, Namaan Ebdon and Tracey Neuls. Mirrors by: Haidee Drew.
